These Terms of Use set out the acceptable-use rules and code of conduct for Lingu English at public.lingu.com (the “Service”). They are an addendum to, and incorporated by reference into, the Terms of Service, which is the governing contract you accept on purchase. Defined terms, billing, cancellation, liability, and governing law live in the Terms of Service; where these Terms of Use conflict with the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service prevail. The operator is Lingu Ltd (formerly Perfectly Spoken Ltd), registered in England and Wales under company number 09197891.
Your account is personal to you and may not be transferred, shared, or resold. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity carried out under your account, and you must notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised use. You must be at least 18 years old to register; persons under 18 may use the Service only through an adult account holder, who takes full responsibility for the minor’s access and for ensuring the content is appropriate. You must provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
The Service is provided for your own personal, non-commercial language learning. You agree to use it lawfully, respectfully, and in line with these Terms of Use and the Terms of Service. Where the Service includes community or shared features, treat other learners and our teachers with courtesy and respect.

We may monitor communications on the Service to maintain security, enforce these Terms of Use, comply with our legal obligations, and protect users.
All Service content is owned by Lingu or its licensors. You receive a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable licence to access and use the content for your own personal, non-commercial language learning only; any reproduction, redistribution, public performance, modification, sale, or sublicensing without our prior written consent is prohibited. By uploading content (such as recordings, written submissions, or comments) you grant Lingu a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use it to provide and improve the Service to you; we will not publish your personal submissions without your consent except in features designed for that purpose. The full intellectual-property terms are in clause 6 of the Terms of Service.
Some features use automated systems, including AI models, to give feedback on speaking, writing, or pronunciation, generate practice, or personalise your learning. AI-generated feedback supports, and does not replace, qualified teacher guidance and may occasionally be wrong. Voice and text you submit to AI-supported features are processed only to provide the Service to you, in accordance with the Privacy Policy and the Data Processing Agreement. We do not use your personal submissions to train third-party foundation models without your explicit consent.
If you breach these Terms of Use we may, acting reasonably and in good faith, issue a warning, remove offending content, or suspend or terminate your access. The consequences of termination, any refund position, and your statutory consumer rights are governed by the Terms of Service and the Refund & Cancellation Policy. Serious or unlawful conduct may be reported to the relevant authorities.
