This is the governing contract. You accept it when you create an account or pay for a plan.
Three plans: Easy English, English Live, and the 12-week English Fast-track cohort. Every plan includes a real teacher touchpoint.
Prepayment, not lock-in: monthly cancels anytime; 6-month and annual are discounted prepaid plans, not minimum-term contracts.

Content is for personal study. No copying, reselling, scraping, or training AI models on it. Conduct rules are in the Terms of Use.
Your statutory consumer rights (UK, EU, Norway) are never reduced by these terms.

These Terms of Service replace the former Perfectly Spoken terms for all new and migrated subscribers.

1. Who we are and scope

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are the governing contract between you and Lingu Ltd (formerly Perfectly Spoken Ltd), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 09197891, with its registered office at 29a Crown Street, Brentwood, Essex, CM14 4BA, United Kingdom (“Lingu”, “we”, “us”). They govern your use of Lingu English at public.lingu.com (the “Service”).

The following are addenda to, and incorporated by reference into, these Terms: the Terms of Use (acceptable use and code of conduct), the Data Processing Agreement, the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy, the Refund & Cancellation Policy, and the Subscription & Billing Terms. If an addendum conflicts with these Terms, these Terms prevail unless the addendum expressly states otherwise.

2. Acceptance on purchase

You accept these Terms, and the addenda incorporated by reference in clause 1, when you create an account or pay for any plan. If you do not accept them, do not create an account or purchase a plan. Where we make material changes we will give at least 30 days’ notice by email or in the Service; continued use after the effective date is acceptance, and if you do not accept you may cancel under clause 5.

3. Plans and what each includes

Lingu English is sold as three consumer plans. Each includes a real teacher touchpoint; AI is a productivity layer between sessions, not a replacement for teaching.

Allowances, caps, and prices are those displayed at checkout at the time of purchase. We may update plan contents but will not materially reduce the overall quantity or quality of a plan during a paid term without offering pro-rata compensation.

4. Prepayment, not lock-in

There is no minimum commitment on monthly plans. Longer commitments are rewarded with prepaid discounts: a 6-month plan at roughly 20% off the monthly equivalent and an annual plan at roughly 30% off. You self-select the commitment that suits you. 5. Cancellation, pause and deferral

Monthly Easy English and English Live cancel anytime, effective at the end of the current paid period. Prepaid plans and Fast-track cohorts are governed by the withdrawal waiver in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Pause. Monthly English Live: once per 6 months for up to 30 days. Easy English: up to 90 days. Prepaid: once for up to 60 days, renewal date shifted.
Fast-track deferral. A cohort cannot be paused once in flight; a learner may defer to the next cohort once.
Cohort cancellation by Lingu. If a cohort misses minimum enrolment we may reschedule or cancel it; you then choose a full refund, the next cohort at no cost, or conversion to 12 months of English Live.

6. Intellectual property and AI

All Service content is owned by Lingu or its licensors; you receive a limited, personal, non-transferable licence for your own non-commercial language learning. You must not scrape, mirror, or use the content to train, fine-tune, or evaluate any machine-learning model without our prior written consent. AI feedback supports, and does not replace, qualified teacher guidance and may occasionally be wrong; we do not use your personal submissions to train third-party foundation models without your explicit consent. 7. Liability and governing law

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be excluded. Statutory consumer rights — the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, the EU Consumer Rights Directive, and Norwegian forbrukerlovgivning — are not affected. Governing law, jurisdiction, the aggregate liability cap, and the carve-out for consumers outside England and Wales: Under legal review — governing law, jurisdiction & liability cap. Norwegian consumers buying via lingu.no may have stronger rights under angrerettloven and require separate review.
