One teacher, one student, one plan built around what you actually need to do in English — pass an exam, present to a board, write a clean report, or hold your own in a difficult conversation. You bring the goals; your teacher builds the plan.
Private lessons sit alongside our group programmes and the AI practice partner that comes with every plan — together they get you further, faster, than any one of them alone.
Qualified teachers · IELTS & Cambridge specialists · 15+ years' experience
Private lessons are an add-on to Easy English, English Live, or English Fast-track. Once you're subscribed, you book an assessment lesson with your chosen teacher and pick the package that fits your goal.
For enterprise customers, private 1:1 sits inside a bespoke training programme — tailored to roles, scheduled around shifts, combined with group classes, self-study, and reporting your L&D and HR teams can act on.
Private lessons work hardest when you bring a specific goal. The most common ones we see:
Every teacher on our private-lesson roster has more than fifteen years of classroom teaching experience and is qualified to prepare students for Cambridge and IELTS examinations. Several hold CELTA or DELTA qualifications and have taught for organisations such as the British Council and International House.
You'll see each teacher's full profile — background, specialisms, availability — when you book. Not sure who's the right fit? Book an assessment lesson with any available teacher and we'll match you from there.
Group classes are where most progress happens — peers, structure, regular practice. Self-study and the AI partner cover the daily reps. Private lessons solve the third problem: the part of your English that nobody but you needs to fix, on the timeline only you know about.
An hour with a teacher who has read your last three writing samples, knows you freeze on the past perfect, and has graded a thousand IELTS Task 2 essays is not the same hour as a group class — and not a replacement for one either. Both, together, is how serious learners reach the level they need.
Common questions about private one-to-one lessons. Still unsure? Book an assessment lesson and ask your teacher directly.
Yes, for individual learners. Private lessons are an add-on to one of our three plans — Easy English, English Live, or English Fast-track. Companies and organisations buy 1:1 hours through a bespoke enterprise programme, not through the consumer plans.
You can pick a specific teacher from the roster when you book, or let us match you based on your goal and availability. If the fit isn't right after the assessment lesson, you can switch teacher before committing to a package.
6, 12, 18, or 24 lessons, plus a paid assessment lesson for new students. Larger packages cost less per lesson. Lesson length and price per package will be confirmed at checkout.
Yes. Our teachers are specialists in IELTS and Cambridge English exam preparation (FCE, CAE, CPE), and several also support TOEFL. Bring your target band or grade and your exam date, and the plan will be built around them.
If you're paying as an individual, you can request an invoice in your name for reimbursement. If your employer wants to buy lessons for a group of staff, that's an enterprise contract — request a proposal through our companies page and we'll quote the right package.
Group classes follow a structured curriculum with peers at your level. Private lessons are built only around you — your goals, your weaknesses, your timeline. Most serious learners use both: groups for breadth and rhythm, private lessons for the specific things they need to fix.
Lessons can be rescheduled with reasonable notice from your dashboard. The exact cancellation window will be shown when you book and is set per teacher.
New to Lingu? Take the placement test and pick the plan that fits — private lessons attach to any of them. Buying for a team? Talk to our enterprise team and we'll build the programme around your roles, schedules, and outcomes.
